The Instructional Systems program was founded by Dr. Robert Morgan in 1968 and is consistently ranked among the top two programs for Instructional Design in the country. Since 1968, we have had more than 1,000 graduates from throughout the world.
Both faculty and students are widely published in leading journals, and are active and visible participants in such organizations as AERA, AECT, AACE, ISPI, and ISLS. Our faculty currently hold over $1 million in federally-funded contracts and grants together with $2-3 million from sources in areas of educational technology, information technology, and educational psychology. A 2004 study showed that the three most frequently used textbooks in the field were written by our faculty.
Our program’s combined focus on theory, research, application, and technology prepares students to compete and excel in a challenging and changing marketplace.
We offer:
- On-line and residential master’s programs in the areas of instructional systems, open and distance learning, and performance improvement and human resource development
- PhD in instructional systems
- Certificate programs in human performance technology (HPT) and online instructional development
