Systematic Investigation of Pedagogical agent Image, Animation, and Instructional Role

Investigator: Amy Baylor

Project Description
Funded by NSF Grant #0218692 through the CISE-IIS (Computer Information Science Engineering-Intelligent Information Systems) Division. Dr. Amy Baylor is the principal investigator for this $450,000 4-year project to investigate how the following pedagogical agent features contribute to learning, motivation, and perceived agent value: A) agent image (character, realism, gender, ethnicity); B) agent animation (task-related, expressive animations); and, C) agent pre-defined roles (expert, motivational advisor, co-collaborator).

Challenging Females' Engineering Stereotypes with Pedagogical Agents

Investigator: Amy Baylor

Project Description
Dr. Baylor as PI and co-PI Dr. Ashby Plant were awarded $500,000 from the National Science Foundation for the project "Pedagogical agents as social models: Challenging gender-related stereotypes of engineering." The interdisciplinary project goals are 1) to systematically investigate the effectiveness of pedagogical agents as social models to influence girls' beliefs and stereotypes about engineering; and, in parallel, 2) to use pedagogical agents as a vehicle to systematically examine the nature of the belief-changing process.

Navy Integrated Learning Environment Framework

Investigator: Abbas Darabi

The Integrated Learning Environment Framework: This project focuses on determining key skills for Navy instructors to facilitate learning in multiple environments, develop the metrics for evaluating instructors, and provide guidelines for different levels of instructor/ learner interactions.

Web-based Career Decision-Making Tool (CDMT) for America's Career Resource Network

Investigator: Abbas Darabi

Project Description
This web-based tool will assist individuals in making informed decisions about their future careers, educational attainment, and their personal goals by giving them access to labor market information and instruction on the decision making process.

Strategic, Tactical, and Operational Planning for the Sonora Institute of Technology

Kaufman

Project Description
The Sonora Institute is now expanding the implementation of Dr. Kaufman's "Mega Planning" model as the "driver" for new curriculum as well as for research and development.

Needs Assessment for At-Risk Drug Users - Prevention First of Illinois

Kaufman
